Emile Heskey has explained why he would love to see Liverpool make a move for ‘fantastic’ Arsenal attacker Gabriel Martinelli after the footballer stunned Joel Matip at the Emirates.

“I can’t imagine Arsenal letting Gabriel Martinelli go anytime soon, but he would definitely be someone I’d be looking at if it was Liverpool,” Heskey told Ladbrokes (via the Liverpool Echo). “If you look at that aggressiveness in his game, and the way he’s played so far this season, there aren’t many with his ability. “He’s confident and comfortable on the ball to a point where as a defender you’re not quite sure if he’s going to shoot, cross or attack you. He is a fantastic player and someone that everyone would love to play with and would hate to play against. He doesn’t give you time at all.

“There was a moment in Sunday’s game where Joel Matip was dealing with a ball in the air, it looked like he was in complete control, and out of nowhere Martinelli comes in, closes it off and takes the ball from him. He got the body from him along the way, and he’s a strong guy these days, so once he’s in that position, he’s hard to beat.
