Match of the day presenter Gary Lineker claims two Premier League players are close to coming out as gay ahead of this winter’s controversial World Cup in Qatar.
There has been much criticism of the decision to give Qatar the opportunity to host this tournament, with the country’s record on LGBTQ+ rights under scrutiny.
Speaking in an exclusive to be published in the Daily Mirror tomorrow, Lineker has sent a strong message to Qatar ahead of the start of the tournament, promising not to shy away from asking tough questions during coverage of the competition.

Lineker says that he hopes they decide to do it during the World Cup, as that would certainly send a very powerful message.
The tournament kicks off on November 20 and will no doubt be intriguing to watch, as the weather in Qatar means it will not take place over the summer, as has traditionally been the case throughout its history.
