Tyrell Malacia posts incredible stats in win against Omonia – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United battled back to a 1-0 win against Omonia in the Europa League tonight.

United’s advance came late in the match thanks to a late goal from substitute Scott McTominay.

McTominay came on for Casemiro at 81′. In the roughly nine minutes he was on the pitch, the Scotland international was superb, capping off a brilliant cameo with a goal to stave off United’s blushes.

Another standout player against Omonia was Tyrell Malacia.

Malacia got the nod ahead of Luke Shaw and played on his favorite left flank alongside Marcus Rashford.

In the first half, the Dutch left back won 100% of the duels he deepened in a supreme display of defensive resilience.

The 23-year-old posted an impressive 92% passing accuracy in his 60 minutes of play against Neil Lennon’s men. Of the 56 successful passes he made to his teammates, four were key passes.

Malacia recorded a whopping 74 touches on the ball to his name.

The defender made two interceptions and won three innings.

The former Feyenoord man, who arrived at Old Trafford in a deal worth £12.9m, showed his ability to go forward, making two accurate crosses.

Malacia also completed 100% of her dribbles against Omonia.

The winger did well tonight after some shaky performances in recent days. Whether he starts against Newcastle at the expense of Luke Shaw remains to be seen.

On the evidence of his performance tonight, he has made a concrete claim for a starting job.
