Gary Lineker tweets Man City’s worst fear after Liverpool’s 7-1 thrashing of Rangers

Liverpool fans will be wary of labeling their 7-1 loss to Rangers a new dawn having already burned twice after previous Champions League victories.

However, the manner of the win in Scotland left Gary Lineker absolutely certain on Twitter that the Reds’ season “seem to have finally started”.

It’s a verdict that will have Manchester City at least a little nervous ahead of their visit to Anfield on Sunday.

That said, there is no doubt that the Sky Blues will feel confident enough in light of our poor form since the start of the season and their own commanding performances throughout with the new Erling Haaland a revelation at the top.

The concern for us will be to make sure we are in the races from the start, otherwise an early goal conceded could become a solid buffer for the reigning champions before we have a chance to respond properly in 45 seconds.

A convincing victory at Ibrox is, however, a step in the right direction, one that is expected to be repeated in the English top flight at the weekend.
