When news broke of a potential (albeit highly unlikely) transfer of Kylian Mbappe to Liverpool, a French journalist provided his insight on the chances of a move to Anfield.
Speaking on CBS, Julien Laurens said: “I think he really liked Liverpool but they can’t afford it at the moment, they can’t afford the transfer fee and wages.”

The 23-year-old is one of the biggest stars in world football and he recently signed a new multi-million dollar deal to stay in Paris, for which the fees involved would be astronomical.
One thing we are perhaps best known for is not spending much, especially in terms of salaries, so this feels like something that was absolutely possible before a new contract was signed, now impossible.
