VAR official from Arsenal defeat keeps role for Liverpool v Man City – Reds will be in uproar

Liverpool fans will have every reason to be furious at the decision to select Darren England as VAR for the Reds’ upcoming league match with Manchester City, as conveyed by Ben D’Arcy in a tweet.

The official presided over the tech for the Merseysiders’ 3-2 defeat to Arsenal in north London in a controversial display of the refereeing team.

Given the criticism the 37-year-old has recently faced, it seems a bit reckless, to say the least, to entrust him with the handling of perhaps the biggest game on the Premier League calendar in recent years.

With England likely to shine in the spotlight and how well they oversee the clash, it will hopefully mean we can really rely on a higher standard of refereeing than we were given at the Emirates Stadium.

It is understandable that a part of the fanbase is expecting the worst once the Sky Blues visit Anfield.

Although confidence levels around this Liverpool team won’t be very high, and rightly so, we can only hope that decisions beyond our control don’t cost Jurgen Klopp’s men points once again.
