For its part, Barcelona has had a great start to the 22/23 season. The Catalans are at the top of the LaLiga points table after eight games.

Barcelona have picked up 22 points from their eight games in the Spanish top flight this season. Their arch-rivals Real Madrid also have 22 points, but Barca sit top thanks to a superior goal difference.

But the same cannot be said of Barcelona’s 22/23 Champions League. Xavi’s side languish third in Group C with three points from their opening three games.

Barcelona faced Bayern Munich in their first UCL game 22/23 and lost 2-0 to the German team. They returned to winning ways when they met Viktoria Plzen in their next match, recording a 5-1 victory.

But the Catalans fell to yet another defeat when they and Inter Milan met in their third game of the group stage. Inter emerged victorious in that game, securing a 1–0 victory.

Bayern are top of Group C with nine points from their first three games, while Inter have six points. Barcelona face Inter in their next match in the competition and will be looking to pick up all three points to boost their hopes of advancing to the round of 16.
