Guardiola breaks silence on Liverpool with surprising claim after Arsenal

Liverpool are undoubtedly the team to play against at the moment, as a litany of problems continue to plague Jurgen Klopp’s men ahead of the World Cup in Qatar.

Nonetheless, Pep Guardiola remains convinced the Reds will still provide “the biggest test we can face in England”.

“It is always [a huge test]”, said the Spaniard on the official website of Sky Blues.

“But after the game (against Southampton), I am very, very tired.

“After three games (in seven days), I have no intention of thinking about Liverpool, I will think about Copenhagen and we want to finish top of the group.

“After Copenhagen I have four days to prepare for the game at Anfield.

“But I don’t have to tell you how competitive it will be – the biggest test we can face in England.”

It’s a statement that one can be sure will invite more than a few raised eyebrows among the fan bases of the English top flight.

Is the end of Virgil van Dijk’s impressive home record awaiting him?

Although our current form shouldn’t have supporters too confident of a positive result against the title holders, even with play organized at L4, Jurgen Klopp won’t accept even an ounce of defeatism ahead of Cityzens’ visit to Merseyside.

Facing an opponent who has helped us reach heights previously thought unthinkable in the English game, the hope will be that the challenge will be enough to inspire a dramatic upgrade from our out-of-form stars.

That’s perhaps too far a hope, though another loss in a week is far from guaranteed at this stage.
