Michael Carrick spotted in the away end for Manchester United’s win over Everton – Man United News And Transfer News

A former Manchester United legend was seen in the crowd at Goodison Park last night.

In a narrow 2-1 win, United were able to put on a somewhat impressive performance for the fans in attendance, albeit with a slightly jittery ending.

Michael Carrick joined the fans in the away stands.

Carrick was one of the first team coaches under Ole Gunnar Solskjær, whom he assisted alongside Kieran McKenna.

Before Ralf Rangnick was named interim coach, Carrick oversaw three games as interim coach.

He won games against Villarreal and Arsenal and drew against Chelsea before leaving his post at the club.

United supporter Benjamin Brazil shared via his Twitter (@bennymufc) a photo of Carrick arguing with a fellow fan as he watched the Reds emerge victorious.

Carrick was last seen inspecting his former club at Old Trafford in January 2022 when United lost 1-0 to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Furthermore, Solskjær and Carrick were photographed together last February supporting their former colleague Kieran McKenna, who is now in charge of Ipswich Town.

The Geordie midfield maestro has been taking a break from football since leaving United in November 2021.

He has been tipped as a possible successor to Chris Wilder, who was sacked by Middlesbrough a week ago.

BBC Sport reported that the northeastern club are willing to hold talks with Carrick.

Links between Carrick and Boro’s vacant managerial position are beginning to intensify in recent hours.

Leo Percovich currently oversees football at Riverside Stadium on an interim basis.

Carrick was first given a managerial role when José Mourinho was manager at Old Trafford following his retirement from his playing career.

The Englishman became a United legend and was an underrated midfielder in Europe during the 2000s. He finished his career with 464 appearances in all competitions for United and won five Premier League titles during his decade-long spell, and he clearly still has the club in his heart.

Furthermore, his choice to sit among the away fans reaffirms Carrick’s down-to-earth nature and his love and respect for the United faithful.
