West Brom sacks Steve Bruce in relegation zone

West Bromwich Albion relieved manager Steve Bruce of his duties on Monday. The club drew goalless at home against Luton Town on Saturday.

West Brom are currently in the relegation zone of the 2022/23 English Championship. After 13 games played in the league, the Baggies have just one win, eight draws and four losses. The 11 points draw the club level with Huddersfield, which is good for 22nd place out of 24 teams in the league.

Bruce, who took charge of the Hawthorns in February of last season, struggled in his time at the helm of the club. Bruce oversaw 32 games as club manager. West Brom sack Steve Bruce after he only managed eight wins and 12 draws in those 32 games. Thus, he led the team to 12 losses.

Last season, West Brom returned to the Championship after suffering relegation in 2020/21. The club finished tenth in the league. However, relegation to League One now looks like a real possibility. Based on form, West Bromwich Albion are winless in their last nine games in all competitions. The team’s last victory was against Hull City on August 20, a 5-2 win.

West Brom sack Steve Bruce amid problems

Along with Steve Bruce, West Brom laid off three backroom staff. Steve Agnew and Stephen Clemence are two assistant coaches that Steve Bruce brings with him. Furthermore, Bruce’s son Alex, who has taken over as manager at the club, is also out of West Brom.

In place of Bruce is the club’s Under-21 head coach, Richard Beale. He asks his assistant coaches James Morrison and Gary Walsh to help him manage the first team.

The club now enters the foray of trying to find a permanent replacement manager. There are no featured candidates on the air at this time, as the process began on Monday.
