Liverpool’s midfield crisis seemed to have eased somewhat in recent weeks as the likes of Curtis Jones, Thiago Alcantara and Jordan Henderson returned to team training.
However, the Reds have since taken a step back in that regard after loan signing Arthur Melo was reported to have suffered a ‘devastating’ injury by The Athletic’s James Pearce in a tweet.

It makes a dream for the ‘fantastic’ (as Alisson Becker once described him) midfielder, which makes Brazil’s World Cup team, completely unattainable, while also raising further questions about his career at Anfield after the difficulties of entering the first XI.

It is a very unfortunate reality that has befallen the 26-year-old who was hoping to reinvigorate his playing career after falling out of favor with Massimiliano Allegri at Juventus.
Assuming we see the Brazilian back in action around the start of the new year, there’s every chance he could compete again, although it’s a tall order given the former Barcelona star was already catching up on his fitness levels. . we were worried.
We can only hope that Arthur’s eventual return comes sooner than anticipated and it’s hard not to sympathize with his plight.
