Man Utd Confident Cristiano Ronaldo Will Not Leave in January

Manchester United are reportedly confident that star striker Cristiano Ronaldo will not leave the club in the January transfer window.

Reports recently surfaced that Man Utd will allow Ronaldo to leave the club in the January transfer window. The Portuguese was linked with a move away from Man Utd in the summer transfer window.

Reports said that Ronaldo had asked Man Utd to allow him to leave if they received a suitable offer. Several clubs were linked to the 37-year-old but interest in the player was scant.

He failed to seal a departure from the Old Trafford team in the summer and ultimately ended up staying at the club. But recent reports have linked the Man Utd icon with a January transfer.

But ESPN reports that the Red Devils are confident that Ronaldo will not leave the club in January due to a lack of interest in him.

The report adds that Man Utd are primed for Ronaldo to make another attempt to seal a departure from the Old Trafford outfit.

Ronaldo has apparently lost his place in Man Utd’s starting XI this season under manager Erik ten Hag. The Portuguese international has only made four starts this season, and only one of them has been in the Premier League.

He has made a total of six appearances in the English top flight so far this season. But five of those were appearances off the bench. He also stayed on as an unused substitute in the Manchester derby.

After Man Utd fell to a tough 6-3 loss to Man City, Ten Hag explained his decision not to play Ronaldo against their local rivals. Ten Hag said that he did not take Ronaldo off the bench out of respect for the Portuguese.

Ronaldo has also struggled to score goals for the Red Devils this season. He has only scored once in the nine games he has played so far.

That goal came in Man Utd’s 2-0 victory over FC Sheriff in the Europa League. Ronaldo converted from the spot after Diogo Dalot had won a penalty in that match.

Meanwhile, Man Utd secured a 3-2 victory over Omonia in the Europa League in their previous game. Ronaldo appeared at all times for the English team, but again drew a blank despite many opportunities.
