Barcelona defender Andreas Christensen is ready to miss the next El Clasico

In an official statement on Andreas Christensen’s injury, Barcelona said: “Tests carried out on Wednesday have confirmed that first-team player Andreas Christensen has a sprained left ankle. He is not available and his recovery will dictate his return.”

Now, according to Spanish outlet AS, this will keep Andreas Christensen out for at least 3 weeks, depending on the degree of the sprain.

Since joining Barcelona at the start of the season on a free transfer from Chelsea, Andreas Christensen has been excellent for the Catalan giants. The defender has shown great regularity and, obviously, it will be a big foul for Xavi’s team.

Christensen is also an important part of the Denmark national team. And they will be relieved to learn that the defender will be able to return in top form before the start of the next World Cup in Qatar.

Xavi, however, will be very tense due to the situation. Prior to Christensen’s injury, Barcelona lost two more defenders in Ronald Araujo and Jules Kounde. The only two centre-backs available to them now are Eric García and Gerrard Piqué.

Barcelona has already stumbled in a very crucial month of October. they have many great games to come. Barcelona will face Inter Milan and Bayern Munich in the Champions League. And after their consecutive defeats in the continental tournament, they will have to draw results from these matches.

The Blaugrana will also face Real Madrid in La Liga, which will potentially be a league decider. And with so many injuries, surely Xavi will be under pressure.

Whats Next?

Now the good news for Barcelona fans is that Frenkie de Jong has returned from injury. The Dutch international has been photographed in training. This gives Xavi another option at centre-back.

Barcelona will now face Celta Vigo in their next outing in La Liga. After the League match, they will host Inter Milan in a do-or-die game.
