Gallas predicts result of Liverpol’s huge clash with Arsenal

Former Arsenal player William Gallas believes now is a good time for the Gunners to take on Liverpool and has backed his old team to earn three points in Sunday’s big clash at the Emirates.

The Frenchman believes Jurgen Klopp’s side are ‘weaker’ without Sadio Mane in the flank and explained that opponents are targeting Trent Alexander-Arnold and his apparent defensive weaknesses.

Mikel Arteta’s team is at the top of the Premier League at the moment and according to Gallas, they will have a chance of defeating the Anfield team.

“I think it would be a huge disappointment if Arsenal fail to beat Liverpool at The Emirates, especially after their win against Tottenham,” Gallas told Genting Casino (via Liverpool Echo). “When you see Liverpool’s performances this season, the weekend against Brighton, it’s a great opportunity to beat them.

“Liverpool is struggling at the moment. The performance against Brighton didn’t surprise me because they look like a different team this season. There have been warning signs throughout the season.

“They look weaker without Mane. On the back, they have been very, very poor. Alexander-Arnold is fighting. The problem with Liverpool is that almost all the goals come from Alexander-Arnold’s side of the pitch. He is playing too high.

“His first job is to defend very well. How many goals have Liverpool conceded because of their mistakes? Nobody talks about this when you’re winning games.

“Liverpool were on fire, winning games, winning trophies and the number of assists he recorded was magnificent, but those mistakes were always in his game. For Arsenal, this is the right time to play Liverpool.”

We certainly haven’t been at our best this season, while Arsenal have hit it stride during the early stages of the campaign.

They have only lost once this term, against Manchester United at Old Trafford, and confidence among Arteta’s side is through the roof.

The former France international predicted the match score.

“In the last game I told Arsenal 3-2,” he added. “I will support Arsenal to win this game, that’s for sure. I think 3-1 against Arsenal because it will be an open game. Arsenal must take advantage of the form Liverpool is in.”

However, we are unbeaten in our last five games against the Londoners and knocked them out of the League Cup last season before winning the competition.

A loss on Sunday would see us drop 14 points behind the team from the capital, which would be very worrying, but a win, on the other hand, could be a turning point in our season.
