Fabio Miretti has been one of the reasons there has been less criticism of Max Allegri for his reluctance to field youngsters.
Surprisingly, the Bianconeri manager promoted the then 18-year-old to his first team at the end of last season.
He played the last games of the season and did well. We expected him to return to the Under-19s this season, but he stayed with the team.
He was one of the first names on the team sheet at the start of the campaign and remains with the majors.
There has been general criticism of Italian clubs not giving their young players opportunities.
But Miretti spoke out on the subject recently and insisted it wasn’t true.
He said through Tuttomercatoweb:
“In my opinion, it is not true. Now I have had a little more space, Scalvini plays who is the same age as me. Perhaps they are less afraid abroad of kicking them out, but then what he judges is always the pitch.
