Man United news: Rashford praised by Hargreaves

Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford has drawn high praise from former Red Devils midfielder Owen Hargreaves after the way he changed the game when he came off the bench in the Europa League on Thursday night.

Rashford was initially named on the bench by Man Utd manager Erik ten Hag but scored twice when he was brought on in the second half, helping his club win 3-2 at Omonia Nicosia.

The Cypriot minnows gave United a bit of a scare in the first half as they looked to have a 1-0 lead, though it didn’t take long for Rashford to level things up, then he got United’s third after Anthony Martial had also noted.

Hargreaves was full of praise for Rashford’s appearance when he came on, and the England international was certainly back at his best after a minor dip in form at Old Trafford last season.

“I thought Rashford looked fantastic when he came in. He looked strong, he looked fast and explosive. He was by far the best player on the field when he came on,” said Hargreaves, quoted by Metro.

“Defensively, United clearly still have work to do, but they created a lot of chances and [Cristiano] Ronaldo should have had a pair really.”
