Jamie Carragher accuses Rio Ferdinand of being a Cristiano Ronaldo fanatic in Twitter rant – Man United News And Transfer News

Former Liverpool defender and current TV pundit Jamie Carragher has accused Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand of being a fan of Cristiano Ronaldo.

In a Twitter rant, Carragher alludes to Ferdinand failing to recognize his caliber and reducing himself to being an echo chamber for Ronaldo.

Ferdinand called out Carragher, one of Ronaldo’s biggest critics since arriving at Old Trafford.

Since the Portuguese lost his place in the squad following the arrival of Erik ten Hag, the former Liverpool player has doubled down on his criticism of the five-time Ballon d’Or winner, saying he was never a suitable acquisition.

Via his Youtube podcast, Ferdinand launched an impassioned defense of his former United teammate and questioned Ten Hag’s decision to bench him in such a crucial draw.

Similar sentiments were expressed regarding Casemiro, who also had to contend with a bench position.

The six-time Premier League winner prompted Carragher to ask if he was still upset that Ronaldo didn’t shake his hand.

In response, the Sky Sports pundit said: “No, I’m delighted that [the video of Ronaldo snubbing him] went viral!”

“Rio, I know how it works.”

He added in his scathing comments: “He is your partner and you/Evra and the rest are in the WhatsApp group and he asks you to come out and defend him.”

“Don’t be his fanboy. You are Rio Ferdinand for FFS!”

The tug-of-war between the two will only add fuel to Ronaldo’s fire, and the debates surrounding his role in an underperforming team are unlikely to abate.
