Tottenham Hotspur have shown great interest in signing LaLiga star defender Pau Torres.
Spurs manager Antonio Conte has concerns about Clement Lenglet and Davinson Sanchez as they often struggle to maintain consistency in their performance.
The North London Club have been eyeing the Spanish defender for a long time and have reportedly made an offer in 2021 to take him to the English Premier League.
But Torres was not ready to leave the Yellow Submarines after qualifying for the Champions League by winning the Europa League.
Tottenham Hotspur face competition from other Premier League rivals
Spurs will have to face some serious competition to sign the Spaniard, as Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United are also desperate for him. Spanish giants like Barcelona and Real Madrid are also keen to sign Villareal’s star defender.
According to Ekrem Konur, Torres will leave Villarreal at the end of the season. Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is a big fan of his compatriot and is also keen to add another southpaw defender.
At this time, in the Arsenal team, Gabriel is associated with William Saliba, while Benjamin White has moved to a right back position. Arsenal are also furious to land Torres after missing out on Lisandro Martinez in the summer.
Chelsea are also in the running as they look to replace Thiago Silva. They are looking at the 25-year-old Spaniard as a second choice on their shortlist behind main target Josko Gvardiol.
Conte is looking to improve his defense with the signing of Torres, as he has doubts about the abilities of Davinson Sánchez and Clement Lenglet. Lenglet is currently on loan from Barcelona. The Italian coach has already informed the club’s board to look for a new central defender.
Lucas Moura’s interest in LaLiga
On the other hand, Tottenham Hotspur attacker Lucas Moura has welcomed the idea of joining La Liga side Sevilla. The Brazilian has struggled to play with Conte and has received a lack of playing time. The new arrival of the summer, Richarlison, has not helped him regain his position in the starting eleven.
Moura hasn’t played for Spurs since matchday two against Chelsea due to a calf injury. The 30-year-old has over 200 appearances for the north London club under his belt.
During the international break, he addressed his relationship with Sevilla. He said: “I didn’t know about Sevilla’s interest, but it’s a club that I like and a city that they speak highly of. Playing in LaLiga would be something fantastic for me because I like it a lot”.
After facing a humiliating defeat against Arsenal in the North London derby, Tottenham Hotspur need to focus on their defensive department. Signing Pau Torres, 25, will also be a smart move for the club.
