Match report: Manchester City 6 – 3 Manchester United – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United have suffered a humiliating 6-3 loss in the Manchester Derby.

The first chance of the half came for City who had three chances on the rebound to find the net. The first was a header from Erling Harland that he cleared off the line. The rebound came from De Bruyne but De Gea saved it well.

Just minutes later, City made the breakthrough as Phil Foden found the top corner with his first shot.

United had the occasional glimpse of the ball and the occasional goal attempt as well. Antony fired one towards the back post, but there was no one waiting in the middle, so he slipped away for a goal kick.

But City were getting chance after chance and it was only a matter of time before he scored again, this time it was Erling Haaland who headed the scoring.

The floodgates opened after that and four minutes later it was 3-0, Haaland again sliding over a De Bruyne cross.

United looked desperate as Foden secured his second and a fourth for City before halftime.

The onslaught continued in the second half with City putting De Gea to the test immediately.

A ray of hope came in the 56th minute when Antony found the goal for United. Eriksen with the assist and Antony curled it into the far corner.

Hope was quickly dashed when Haaland bagged his 5-1 City hat-trick. It was torture for the Reds to watch.

It didn’t end there either, as Foden and Haaland would be fighting for the match ball. 6-1 and a hat-trick from Foden and Haaland.

Super-sub Martial showed the boss that maybe he should have trusted him from the start when he came in and scored a goal.

Casemiro was also showing why he should have been picked when he also fired one over the bar.

United had obviously given themselves too much to do and Ten Hag got their game plan wrong, but they were showing struggle in the latter stages and in the 90th minute they were awarded a penalty.

Martial converted, 6-3!

It would turn out to be almost the last kick of the game. United had saved a bit of dignity in what was a gloomy afternoon for the fans.
