Exclusive: Chelsea boss Graham Potter “is a big fan” of Brighton star who stunned Liverpool

Chelsea manager Graham Potter has been described as a “huge fan” of his former Brighton star Leandro Trossard, who will no doubt dominate the headlines this weekend after his surprising hat-trick in the 3-3 draw. with Liverpool at Anfield.

Trossard has generally shone during his time at Brighton, but he seems to have upped his game this season, and the Belgium international continues to impress even after Potter’s departure from the club.

Still, could Trossard end up following Potter to Stamford Bridge in the near future? It certainly wouldn’t be surprising if the new Blues boss wanted to meet one of his former players, but Fabrizio Romano has downplayed this possibility for now.

In his exclusive column for CaughtOffside, Romano insists that there has been no concrete interest in Trossard so far, although he admits that Potter is a huge fan of the 27-year-old and that in the summer of 2023 he could be a name to watch.

Leandro Trossard celebrates Brighton’s goal against Liverpool

“There has been a lot of talk about Leandro Trossard, no, over the summer he was never close to leaving Brighton because they sold Cucurella and they never considered selling any other major player,” Romano explained.

“I am sure that in 2023 there will be a lot of interest around Trossard as he is doing fantastic. Potter is a great admirer of Trossard, of course; but at the moment he is not going through anything with Chelsea”.

Chelsea had a busy summer in the transfer market, but they could arguably still benefit from changes in attack as the likes of Christian Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech continue to struggle.

Trossard, at least in his current form, could well be an upgrade on those players, and give CFC an Eden Hazard-esque threat up front for the first time since losing the legendary Belgian striker to Real Madrid three years ago.
