Juventus intend to sign Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot

Serie A giants Juventus are keen to rope in Portuguese international Diogo Dalot from Manchester United as a free agent during the upcoming summer transfer window.

Hailing from the academy of Portuguese club Porto, Dalot made his professional debut with the club’s B team in 2017. After impressing with the reserve team, Dalot soon got the chance to play for Porto’s main team.

He made just 8 appearances for Porto’s senior squad before moving to English Premier League club Manchester United on a five-year deal in the summer of 2018. United reportedly paid a £19m fee for the services of the fullback.

Highly valued by José Mourinho, who was in charge at the time, Diogo Dalot was soon included in the first team setup. However, the young right-back failed to impress his authority due to various injuries. He made sporadic appearances for the Red Devils following the arrival of Ole Gunnar Solskjær. Dalot then joined AC Milan on loan and spent a year in Italy.

Juventus generated interest in Diogo Dalot

Juventus want to sign Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot

According to a report from Football Italia, Serie A side Juventus are interested in signing Portuguese winger Diogo Dalot from Manchester United next summer.

After a decade of dominance in Serie A, Juventus are currently going through a period of transition. The Bianconeri have finished fourth in their last two seasons in Serie A and have gotten off to a very poor start this time around.

Juventus have won just two of their first seven Serie A games so far. They are clearly struggling and lost their first two Champions League outings against Paris Saint-Germain and Benfica.

The Juventus management now understands the position of their team very well. So to improve their condition, they want to sign several players and are looking for a lot of free agents. Thus they found interest in Diogo Dalot.

After the arrival of the Dutch coach Erik ten Hag, Diogo Dalot began to have more opportunities. He seized this opportunity with both hands and cemented his place in the starting eleven.

However, Dalot’s contract with United runs out at the end of the season. And even though the Red Devils have a one-year extension option, they haven’t activated it yet.

So seeing this opportunity, many clubs from the top five leagues in Europe are interested in signing the right-back. Aside from Juventus, Spanish giants Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, Italian clubs like AC Milan and Roma are monitoring the situation. Therefore, a transfer battle can be expected for the right side.
