La Liga giants FC Barcelona have reportedly failed to pay Manchester City €52m, the transfer money for Spanish international Ferran Torres.
Coming from the La Liga Valencia team academy, Torres played for the Valencia reserve team. he then made his senior debut in 2017 and soon established himself in the lineup. His consistency and creativity earned him black contracts.
Ultimately, it was EPL side Manchester City who signed the Spaniard after paying a £20.8m transfer fee. Upon joining City, Torres got off to a rocky start in City’s star-studded line-up. But he soon adapted to City’s style of play and scored 13 goals in his first season at the Etihad.
Despite getting off to a great start the following season, Torres suffered multiple injuries and moved up the pecking order. He then decided to join La Liga giants FC Barcelona in the winter transfer window.
Barcelona must still pay for the transfer of Torres
When Ferran joined Barcelona, it was reported that the Catalans will pay Manchester City the amount of 52 million euros in several installments.
However, Catalunya Radio has recently reported that Barcelona has not yet paid a cent to Ciudadanos. Reports further suggest that they will now have to pay the full amount before this year.
The Torres operation also includes a variable amount of 3 million euros. But right now it looks like Barcw won’t have to pay for that. With Barca’s recent struggles with their finances, this now seems like a new shock to Catalan fans.
After recovering from his injury last January, Torres was given a major role in Xavi’s Barcelona. The Spanish international started off decently and contributed 13 goals for Barcelona in the second half of the season, helping them finish second in La Liga behind Real Madrid.
Barça then signed Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha at the start of the season. Torres meanwhile got injured and lost his form. As a result, he lost his place in the starting lineup and has so far mostly come off the bench.
Xavi, for his part, tried to play Torres in multiple roles but has not acted in any of them. Barcelona now have a grueling schedule ahead of them and are already dealing with injuries to several players.
So far, Torres has only scored one goal in the early part of the season. The Blaugrana will now hope that Torres gets back into shape from him soon and starts to justify the price on him.

Torres currently plays for Spain and Enrique sees him as an important player. he is ready to be part of the Spanish team that will play in the next World Cup in Qatar. So his return to form is also necessary for the Spanish team.
