Reports in Germany suggest that all-around star Christopher Nkunku has already completed a medical for Chelsea. Bild has claimed that Nkunku received a not-so-secret medical exam in Frankfurt early in the current campaign. The Blues are apparently trying to rush a transfer for the 24-year-old striker/midfielder.

The Telegraph’s Matt Law confirmed the German outlet’s report. “Please understand that reports from Germany that RB Leipzig striker Christopher Nkunku has already undergone a medical ahead of a proposed move to Chelsea next summer are accurate,” Law said.

Meanwhile, French journalist Loic Tanzi has dismissed claims that the medical was carried out for Chelsea. “Christopher Nkunku has not had a medical visit with Chelsea,” Tanzi wrote on Twitter. “He was in Frankfurt for medical appointments related to an insurance contract. Nothing to do with a move to London.

Chelsea target Leipzig’s Christopher Nkunku

However, it certainly seems that Chelsea wants Nkunku. The Blues have struggled to score so far this season. They have managed just eight goals in six Premier League games at this point in the current campaign.

Nkunku can definitely put the ball in the back of the net. The French international already has six goals in 11 games in total for Leipzig so far this season. He even managed a staggering 20 goals and 13 assists in 34 Bundesliga appearances during the 2021/22 campaign.

Despite his impressive stats, Nkunku apparently has a release clause that can kick in next summer for around $59 million. Although still a good chunk of change, a player with his skills could make a lot more money on the open transfer market.

Along with Chelsea, many other big clubs in Europe would be circling to sign Nkunku next summer. Fans of the Premier League team are hoping new owner Todd Boehly will make a move for the star as soon as possible.
