Liverpool are said to be weighing a January move for rising Egyptian star Ibrahim Adel.
This comes courtesy of Graeme Bailey, who points out that Mo Salah is said to be a fan of his compatriot, although the Reds already know him.
“The 21-year-old is currently on the Egyptian team Pyramids but has been linked with a move to Europe for over a year since making his debut for the senior team,” the journalist wrote for 90Min.
“A host of European clubs have been following his progress, with many believing him to be the most exciting prospect Egypt has produced since Salah.
Salah himself is believed to have ensured that his bosses in Liverpool were fully aware of Adel’s talent, and 90min understands that his scouts were already familiar with him anyway.
“Adel was the subject of an offer from the Danish team FC Nordsjaelland during the summer. They tried to buy it with an offer of £2m, but it somehow fell short of Pyramids’ valuation, which is believed to be at least £5m plus add-ons.”
Any potential move for the 21-year-old comes with the caveat that he would need to be immediately loaned out to another European team.
“It is believed that interested parties would consider doing a deal for Adel in January, before loaning him out to another team in Europe before he qualifies for a work permit to play in the UK,” Bailey continued.
