According to a report by AS, Real Madrid plan to storm Manchester City and make a move for their star striker Erling Haaland in 2024.
Haaland joined Manchester City from Borussia Dortmund in the summer transfer window, for a fee of around €60m. He has been an instant hit at the club making an impressive start.
Having scored 11 goals in just 7 Premier League games this season, Haaland has shown that he is not just a flat-court bully. He has defeated criticism of going it alone in the Bundesliga and has shown that he can perform at the highest level. His 3 goals in 2 Champions League appearances this season further add to his pedigree.
Real Madrid have been interested in signing Haaland for a long time, but the emergence of Karim Benzema as the best striker in the world has prevented him from signing for the Norwegian, but now they have set their sights on him again.
The reason Real Madrid are waiting until 2024 to sign Haaland is that his release clause will come into effect that year should he want to leave Man City. By that time, Benzema will be 36 years old and Real Madrid are already planning to replace the aging French superstar.
Haaland would be the perfect replacement for Benzema and according to AS, the signing of Haaland from Manchester City could be closed for around 180 million euros.
