Conor Coady has explained that ‘scoring’ in the Merseyside Derby was ‘one of the best feelings he’s ever had in football.
The Liverpool Academy graduate, who made two senior appearances for the Reds, thought he had won the game for Everton before VAR overturned his shot at close range for offside.
The former Wolves defender insists he had no doubts about joining the Goodison Park outfit despite being a Liverpool fan since childhood.
“A lot of people ask me about scoring against Liverpool. [including this reporter] and to be honest, I think it’s a silly question,” Coady said. sports mail.
“I have played football for a long time and the only thing I give to any club I play for is everything every day of my life. I will promote that club and try to improve the people around me.”
The England international captained Molineux’s side, but Wolves boss Bruno Lage was back in the back four this season and felt Coady was unsuitable for his starting eleven this term.
However, he has settled in well with Frank Lampard and was disappointed to see his Merseyside Derby goal disallowed.

“I know how big the Merseyside derbies are, I grew up with them, I know what they are about, I know how important they are to Everton Football Club and we talked about it before that game,” he added. “It’s a massive game for Evertonians, a massive game for the coach and the players.
“So, having that feeling at that moment [when the ball hit the back of the net], considering that it was taken from me, it was one of the best feelings I’ve ever had in football, I’ll be honest. I’m giving everything for that club every day.”
It’s never nice to see a former player join a bitter rival, but Coady is no Liverpool legend.
He came through the ranks and seemed destined for a decent club career, but it didn’t quite work out.
He has done well since leaving Anfield and it is fair to say his move to Everton earlier this season came as a surprise after he had become a huge fan favorite at Wolves.

Regarding our draw with the Blues earlier this month, we weren’t at our best that day, but both teams had chances to win the game.
A draw was probably a fair result and we hope to win all three points against them in the reverse match at Anfield later this season.
We need to ensure we pick up a massive three points against Brighton at Anfield on Saturday when we return to action after Chelsea’s postponed match and the recent international break before we host Rangers on Tuesday in the Champions League.
