Andy Cole speaks on Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford’s return to form – Man United News And Transfer News

Former Manchester United striker Andy Cole has weighed in on Marcus Rashford’s recent resurgence of form.

As reported in The Manchester Evening News, Cole opened up on United’s club channel MUTV, saying how happy he is to see Rashford back near his best form.

“It’s nice to see. He has regained his confidence, he has scored goals and I think he will be very happy with that”, he said.

Cole went on to say that he feels Rashford is back to what served him so well when he burst onto the scene, using his pace to get behind opposing defenders.

“This is the first time we’ve seen Marcus run behind and stretch teams since he first came on the team. He strayed from his strengths [last season]that is stretching opposition teams.”

Cole has scored 121 in 275 games for United and believes if Rashford continues to play this way he will continue to get closer to his own tally.

“If you look at how he’s playing now when he first came on the team, people will turn around and say; ‘That’s the Marcus Rashford of old.’ If he sticks to it, he will score goals.”

The top four has to be Erik ten Hag’s goal in his first season at the club and Cole feels Rashford will play a role in United achieving that goal.

“If he can propel Manchester United forward this season, it gets us into… I’m not sure what position we’re going to end up in exactly, but if we can finish in the top four, that would be good.”

With Ten Hag favoring a fluid front three, the burden of scoring goals will need to be shared at the front line, with Rashford having to play his part.

Rashford currently sits alongside Jadon Sancho at the top of United’s goalscoring list this season, with three apiece.

Rashford has scored in United’s two biggest games this season, Liverpool and Arsenal, and Ten Hag will look to him to continue his impressive record of big games this weekend, with the delicious Manchester derby on the horizon.
