Jamie Carragher says it’s “too late” for Manchester United star to save his career

Jamie Carragher has claimed it is too late for Harry Maguire to save his Manchester United career.

Maguire is going through what is arguably the most difficult stage of his Manchester United career. On the field, Maguire is struggling and has been seen sitting on the bench for most of the season.

The England international has drawn immense criticism from fans and the media for his poor performances of late, with former Liverpool defender Carragher having spoken out on Maguire.

“I think it’s too late at club level. I wrote last year that he was fighting for his career at Manchester United. He needs this to be his last season at Old Trafford and to start fresh,” said Carragher, writing in his column for the Daily Telegraph.

A move away from Manchester United and out of the spotlight of one of the world’s biggest clubs could be exactly what Maguire needs.

Fortunately for him, England manager Gareth Southgate continues to show faith in him and Maguire continues to be selected despite a lack of playing time at club level.

The difficulty for Maguire is that, due to the huge transfer fee Manchester United paid for him, it will be difficult for any club interested in him to afford to buy him, unless they take a big hit.
