Lee Sharpe says Sir Alex Ferguson is holding a grudge – Man United News And Transfer News

A former Manchester United star has spoken disparagingly of the legendary manager.

Sir Alex Ferguson was known both for his exemplary management and his occasionally raucous personality when in charge.

Lee Sharpe, who made 193 appearances for United in the Premier League, spoke about Quickly Kevin; Will he score? The 90’s Football Show Podcast.

After David Beckham broke into the first team, Sharpe was sold to arch-rivals Leeds United having won three league titles at Old Trafford.

Themes of his departure and his relationship with Ferguson came up on the podcast.

“I felt like I had had enough of Fergie and the way she was treating me,” she said.

“I saw him a couple of years ago at Man United golf day and he didn’t want to look at me but he told me to help me when he was walking by.

“But the time before that it completely blanked me out. After I left United, he told me: ‘Listen, you’ve never had any problems at this club, thanks for your services, if you ever need anything, you know we’re here’”.

Sharpe was famous for his off-field activities, becoming a “poster boy” for football.

Ryan Giggs retells a story where Sharpe had invited the then young man to his house for a party, which was immediately interrupted by Ferguson, who burst through the door and gave the couple a brutal hair dryer.

“And obviously when I retired I did a book and I put in the book that he was a bully, and I heard he got in a fight with me about it.

“Then we were giving the player of the year awards for Man United at Old Trafford and myself and Lou Macari were on MUTV, and the manager was coming to do an interview, and we were asked to step aside so Fergie could continue.

“He went down the stairs […] and walked right past me, shook Lou Macari’s hand and waved and went to the set and totally blew me away.”

Ferguson harbors several grudges against a collection of his former soldiers: the most notable is his lack of communication with Roy Keane since the Irish legend’s tumultuous departure in 2005.
