1 goal, 3 assists in 3 games – Liverpool defender hits standout England form – Liverpool FC

Luke Chambers capped off an exceptional break with the England U19 team by scoring two more goals in a 4-2 win over Denmark, his third win from three.

It was a busy month for England’s under-19s and, in turn, for Liverpool’s youngsters, as four academy players joined Simon Rusk’s squad for the European Championship qualifiers.

Chambers, Lee Jonas, Isaac Mabaya and Oakley Cannonier participated in matchups with Montenegro, Georgia and Denmark, with the Young Lions winning all three.

Tuesday afternoon brought a meeting with Denmark at Hobro that ended in a 4-2 England win, with left-back Chambers assisting on the first two goals.

Having assisted Leeds’ Sonny Perkins in the opening 2-0 win over Montenegro, the 18-year-old again assisted his striker for the opening goal four minutes into the second half.

Oliver Ross equalized for Denmark soon after, only for Chambers to provide again when George Hall made it 2-1, with further goals from Omari Forson and Darko Gyabi interjecting another for Ross.

Jonas and Mabaya came off the bench late, and Chambers hit the woodwork soon after in a remarkable display from the left flank.

As a result, England finished top of Group 9, advancing to the next qualifying round on an excellent start to life under Rusk.

For Chambers, the September break couldn’t have been much better, as the teenager started all three games, assisting three goals and scoring another.

Cannonier scored twice in his first U-19 start against Georgia, with the only assist coming from Mabaya for the striker’s second brace.

All now fly back to Merseyside ahead of the return of domestic football on Saturday, with Liverpool’s Under-21s hosting Arsenal and Under-18s at home to Nottingham Forest.

Bobby Clark should also feature for the U21s alongside Jonas, Chambers, Mabaya and Cannonier, having played twice for the England U18s in their wins over the Netherlands, the Faroe Islands and Belgium.
