Panel: How will Joe Joyce fare against the very best heavyweights in the world?

This week’s panelists were asked to chart the next step for the heavyweight destroyer Joe Joyce.

Chris Billam-Smith (European Cruiserweight Champion)

It got a lot better the other night: faster, more movement, little fall back, etc. I think he can compete with them for sure, but I don’t think he’ll beat Tyson Fury. With his 12+ round size, he might beat Oleksandr Usyk, but I don’t know if he would pick him. I think his best chance would be against Anthony Joshua.

Michael Conlan (Featherweight Contender)

I think he has the skill and the chin to beat them all. I’ve been saying since day one how hard it is to beat Joe. His physical condition is scary for a heavyweight and his chin seems indestructible. I saw him against Usyk in the WSB, but having Joe as a Trojan for 12 rounds is different than boxing him for five. The only two that I think will give him trouble are (Deontay) Wilder, because of his power, and Fury, because he’s so talented. But I wouldn’t rule Joe out either.

Tunde Ajayi (Coach)

Joe Joyce, in his current form, can challenge and beat ANY heavyweight in the world. His relentless work rate, strength and power are key attributes and he would present a problem for any heavyweight in 12 three-minute rounds.

Jake Lemond (super lightweight prospect)

I think Joyce beats some of the best in the heavyweight division. His relentlessness would cause a lot of fighters big problems in the later rounds.
