Warren Still Hopes Fury-Joshua Can Be Made, Admits Fury Has Lost Patience

Frank Warren, promoter of WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, is still hopeful that a deal can be struck for a national blockbuster with Anthony Joshua.

The two sides are discussing a possible fight for a December 3 date at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, with a 60-40 split in favor of Fury.

Fury had set a deadline of Monday to close the deal.

He took to social media shortly after 5pm (UK time) to announce that the fight was “on hold” due to Joshua’s handlers failing to return a signed contract.

However, Warren indicates that both sides are still discussing the details and that a deal is still possible, but at the same time warned that Fury has lost patience with negotiations.

“We are trying to do it for today. We are working very hard to overcome it. If everyone agreed on everything, it would be a great undertaking, but we could do it that way,” Warren told Talk Sport.

“Tyson has told me what he wants. They have ten days of contract and he has lost patience. We’re trying to make it work and we had a good meeting today so we’ll see what happens.

“We are waiting for it [the contract] return, he has not returned, the contract, and we are waiting for him to return. We have agreed certain things, we are waiting for him to come back and we have been waiting for ten days, so I have no idea. There is nothing as far as we are concerned. We thought we were over it, more or less. They have the contract, they have to come back to us now. There have been many conversations, but they have not returned. My son, George, talked to the other side and said they’d get him back, so we’re still waiting for him.

“We are not that far from December 3. We have to put it up for sale. The place is reserved, but there is a lot of organization involved.”
