It must be said that our No.66 has found itself lacking at key moments this season, though it’s hard to see exactly how the Scouser could worsen Southgate’s backline.
Beyond the point, it begs the question as to why the former Middlesbrough boss wasn’t using one of the best full-backs in the world (if not him) in recent years when he was playing at a phenomenally high level.
Sad to say, as beneficial as it is for Jurgen Klopp’s men, it seems Alexander-Arnold won’t get a chance to shine on the international stage until a new England boss is selected.
