Ismael Salas Says Joe Joyce’s Engine Makes Him A Problem For Any Heavyweight

By Brian Webber: Joe Joyce’s trainer, Ismael Salas, believes there is no heavyweight in the division who can match his engine. The ‘Juggernaut Joyce’s superior engine, coupled with its power, size, shock resistance, heart, and high-volume output, make it a nightmare for the likes of Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk.

Salas takes pride in Joyce’s (15-0, 14 KOs) performance last Saturday in stopping former WBO heavyweight champion Joseph Parker (30-3, 21 KOs) in the 11th round to claim the interim title. of the WBO at the Manchester Arena. in Manchester, England.

Joyce took a lot of heavy hits from the speedy combo hitter Parker, but she constantly wore him down with her pressure.

It looked like Parker was starting to loosen up as early as the fourth, but he fought on valiantly until finally getting knocked out with a left hook from Joyce in the 11th.

The guy Joyce wants now is IBF/WBA/WBO champion Oleksandr Usyk, since he is the mandatory WBO for the champion. However, it is doubtful that Usyk will fight Joyce because he has already listed the opponents he wants before retiring after his next three fights. Unfortunately, Joyce is not on Usyk’s list.

If Fury beats Usyk in February or March, there’s a good chance he won’t fight Joyce because he’s heading toward retirement as well.

“He is incredible, very tough. He is a true warrior,” Ismael Salas told BT Sport Boxing about the heart Joseph Parker showed against Joe Joyce.

“This is the first time he has been detained. Everyone saw how many hits he took, but he kept moving. When Parker was throwing so many combinations, I told Joe, ‘You have to throw back,’ and I think that was key.

“In the early rounds, I saw Parker hit him and then stop. Then after that I said to Joe, ‘No matter what hit you, he comes back with something.

“People must recognize. A lot of people don’t give Joe credit. He deserves it tonight. With this motor, no heavy weight can hold this motor. Any. We are ready for whoever crosses our path. We will take them.

“It’s an amazing combination of chin, motor and heart. It was an incredible victory. I am very proud of him. I am very proud of my entire team,” Salas said of Joyce.
