Report – Deiveson Figueiredo vs. Brandon Moreno IV targeted for UFC 283 on January 21. in Brazil

A flyweight championship unification clash between three-time opponents, champion Deiveson Figueiredo and interim gold-holder Brandon Moreno is currently in the works to take place on January 21 at UFC 283 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. from the Jeunesse Arena.

Set to meet for the fourth time during their respective Octagon tenures, Figueiredo and Moreno have so far battled to a single win each, as well as a majority draw in their first Octagon matchup, in December 2020.

Expected to try and settle their differences before this year’s close, former champion Moreno was linked with a fourth fight against Figueiredo, however the Brazilian was forced to drop out of a targeted fight due to a hand injury.

And according to an initial report from Claro Sports, Rodrigo Del Campo Gonzalez, a fourth fight between Figueiredo and Moreno is currently in the works for UFC 283 next January.

“I can confirm that final arrangements are being made for Brandon Moreno vs. Deiveson Figueiredo IV to unify the UFC 125-pound title on January 21, 2023 at #UFC283,” Gonzalez tweeted. “First show in Brazil since March 2020, first in Rio since May 2019 and the fourth fight between (sic) in just over 2 years.”

Fighting to a majority draw in December 2020 in their first fight, defending champion Figueiredo retained his title as a result. In an immediate rematch at UFC 263 in June of the following year, Moreno became the first Mexican-born champion in the organization’s history thanks to a rear-naked choke in the third round.

Competing for a trilogy fight earlier this year at UFC 270, Figueiredo became a two-time undisputed flyweight champion with a unanimous decision victory in Anaheim, California.
