The final minutes were shaky as Mohamed Salah scored and Liverpool kept most of the possession.
The Manchester Evening News recently published an article featuring an interview with Trent as he opens up about the surprising result.
“Either, it could end like last year where it’s 5-0 again and they fall apart after we got an early goal and whatever, or they’ll be able to perform and they’ll do well.”
“To be fair to them, they played well. Yeah, that was tough, we had our chances. They just hit us on the counterattacks and really punished us.”
Liverpool fans criticized Trent’s performance at right back, as United’s attackers sought to engage him throughout the match.
Many expected him to provide the attacking momentum his team is so used to, but instead he looked out of range and struggled to act.
That meant United feasted on their weak defense and capitalized on two goals that came after some good lateral play down Liverpool’s right side.
United will take on Manchester City after the international break as they look to continue their four-match winning streak.
