World Cup nation set to ask clubs to rest players – Manchester United and Tottenham affected

Argentina will reportedly ask clubs to rest their players in the week leading up to the World Cup, with Manchester United and Tottenham set to be affected.

That is according to Doble Amarilla, via the Daily Mail, who states that Argentina will ask that all of its players not participate at club level the week before the first World Cup match.

A large percentage of Argentine players play outside the Premier League, but there are some clubs in England that will be affected by his request.

Manchester United’s Lisandro Martinez and Tottenham defender Cristian Romero are likely to be called up to the team heading to the World Cup.

Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez and Brighton midfielder Alexis Mac Allister are also hoping to make the squad in November.

All of the aforementioned players have played significant roles for their respective teams so far this season, so it will be interesting to see how the clubs react.
