‘Defensively, he’s Championship level’ – French football legend blasts Liverpool defender

Frank Leboeuf has called Trent Alexander-Arnold’s defense “championship level”.

The Frenchman’s comments about the fullback stem from a tweet by @goal (in a Journal du Dimanche report) following a mixed start to the season from Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.

The former Chelsea star paid tribute to the 23-year-old’s remarkable attacking talents, though it’s clear Scouser’s start to the 2022/23 season has been less than inspiring.

Our No.66 is not alone in the Liverpool team in terms of questioning his performances and his defense has certainly been suspect for much of the campaign.

That said, Leboeuf’s comments arguably fail to acknowledge the fact that the right flank has been much more exposed this year due to a lack of adequate cover for right-back bombardments down the flank.

Overall, it’s clear that Alexander-Arnold’s defensive qualities are far superior to Championship-level players.
