Tyson Fury on Joe Joyce: “He wouldn’t land a punch on me in 12 rounds”

Tyson Fury was ringside in Saturday’s Manchester fight between Joe Joyce and Joseph Parker, in which Joyce stopped Fury’s friend Parker in the 11th round.

Fury (32-0-1, 23 KOs) was impressed enough with Joyce (15-0, 14 KOs), but not enough to feel threatened by him, though he does believe Joyce would beat Anthony Joshua and Oleksandr Usyk.

It also doubled on Monday, being the deadline to close the deal to face Anthony Joshua.

On the fight and Joe Joyce’s position at heavyweight

“Honestly, from the point of view of a fan and the heavyweight champion himself, it was a very, very entertaining fight. Both men did extremely well, and fair game to Joe Joyce, he put out a very good game, very strong and fit Joseph Parker, and got into the top five with that win, in my opinion.

“I think he beats Joshua, I think he beats middleweight (Oleksandr Usyk). He may have a problem with Wilder’s speed and power, and I don’t think he can lace up my boots. That’s not a bad thing though, because everyone I’ve fought in the past has never been able to lace up my boots, so there’s no shame in that.”

On how he would beat Joe Joyce

“Joyce wouldn’t give me a single punch in 12 rounds. I don’t think she could hit me even if she had a fucking handful of rice.

“Hit him in the balls while the ref isn’t looking!”

From another video with Fury: “He wouldn’t give me a single punch in 12 rounds. I don’t think he could hit me even if he had a fucking handful of rice. … Listen, he’s a big man, but I’m bigger. He is heavy, but I am heavier. He is a good fighter, but he is what he is. I’m the best in the world for a reason.”

About Anthony Joshua

To Frank Warren: “Monday, Frank! Make sure this dossier signs the contract on Monday, and if he doesn’t, it won’t go to Tuesday or Wednesday or Thursday or the next week! Time limit, baby! Either they sign it, the dossiers, or they don’t. I’ve given each of them a small ticket to come to the party, and if they don’t want to come, the ‘Gypsy King’ follows.”
