Boxing Results: Maxi Hughes Defeats Kid Galahad In UK!

By Ken Hissner: At Nottingham Arena, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, United Kingdom on Saturday on DAZN Eddie Hearn (Matchroom Boxing) in the main event, IBO Lightweight Champion Maxi “Maximus” Hughes defeated former IBO Lightweight Champion IBF featherweight Kid Galahad by majority decision. In Co-Feature IBO & WBA World Super Welterweight Champion Hannah “The Banger” Rankin lost a decision to WBA Intercontinental Champion Terri Harper.

In the main event, IBO Lightweight Champion southpaw Maxi “Maximus” Hughes, 26-5-2 (5), #134.4, of Rossington, Yorkshire, UK, defeated Kid Galahad, 28, by majority decision. -3 (17), #134.7, from Qatar and Sheffield, Yorkshire, UK, more than 12 rounds.

In the first four rounds, Galahad was the aggressor beating Hughes. From the fifth to the seventh round, Hughes returned to the outer lands of Galahad. In the eighth round, Galahad continued to switch from orthodox to southpaw against Hughes.

In the ninth round, Hughes landed a left to the chin that dropped Galahad’s head. Galahad was warned for using his elbow during a clinch by referee McDonnell. In the tenth round, Galahad kept going and Hughes countered him.

By the eleventh round, Hughes was bleeding from a cut from a head butt. In the twelfth and final round, Hughes may have done enough for the victory.

In the tenth round, Hughes deducted a point for using his head. In the eleventh round, Galahad received a cut over his left eye.

The scores were 116-111, 114-114 and 114-113.

In co-feature, IBO and WBA Junior Welterweight World Champion Hannah “The Banger” Rankin, 12-6 (3), #153.4, from Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom, lost to WBA Intercontinental Champion Terri Harper, 13 -1-1 (6), #152, from Denaby Main, Yorkshire, UK, in rounds of 10×2.

In the third round, Rankin received a cut on his left eyebrow. In the ninth and tenth rounds it was all Harper with cutting rights to Rankin’s head.

The scores were 98-92 twice and 97-93. The referee was Bob Williams.

Heavyweight Solomon “The Real Deal” Dacres, 5-0 (1), #229.4, from Warley, West Midlands, UK defeated Dominic “Top Gun” Akinlade, 9-4-1 (4), #305.5 , from New Cross , London, UK, more than 10 rounds.

In the first five rounds, Dacres outboxed Akinlade. In the final five rounds, Dacres continued to outbox the ill-conditioned Akinlade.

The scores were 99-90 by all 3 judges. The referee was Kevin Parker.

Cruiser Cheavon Clarke, 3-0 (3), #199.3, from Jamaica and Gravesend Kent, UK, stopped Marcos “El Comandante” Nicolas Karalitzky, 7-6-2 (2), #197.5, from Temperley, Buenos Aires, ARG , @ 2:21 of the fourth round of a scheduled 8.

In the second round both had their moments. In the fourth round, a flurry of punches from Clarke had Karalitzky on the ropes, and defenseless referee Kevin Parker called a halt.

Welterweight southpaw Cyrus Pattinson, 5-0 (3), #146.4, from Alnwick, Northumberland, UK, stopped southpaw Jorick Luisetto, 12-5 (3), #147, Ecohirolles, FR, @ 1:59 of sixth of a 10

In the first 3 rounds, Pattison gave Luisetto a boxing lesson. In the fourth round Luisetto was cut on the forehead due to a clash of heads. In the sixth round, a Pattison left hook to the chin dropped Luisetto for a count of 8 from referee Bob Williams. Shortly after, a right hook to the chin hit Pattison on the side of the head and Luisetto went down as referee Williams tried to break his fall.

Super welterweight southpaw Junaid Bostan, 3-0 (3), #154 ½, from Rotherham, Yorkshire, UK, stopped Anas Isarti, 2-2 (0), #153 ¼, @ 2:38 of round six of a 6 .

In the first three rounds it was all Bostan. In the sixth round, Bostan dropped Isarti when referee Kevin Parker ordered him to stop.

Lightweight southpaw Rhiannon Dixon, 6-0 (0), #134 ½, of Wigan, Lancshire, UK, defeated Edna “DNA” Kiss, 15-16 (9), #134 ¼, of Budapest, HUN , more than 6×2 rounds

Score 60-54 by referee Marcus McDonnell.
