Phrases of the fighter Maxi Hughes vs Kid Galahad

hugs

Only Barry knows if he is the same after that KO. Talking to Terri about it, she had the same thing with Alicia Baumgardner on the same night, but she exorcised those demons in March by getting back in the ring.

I talked to Tony Bellew and he told me that no one can see if they’ve exorcised the demons until they come back through the ropes and hit the chin with eight-ounce gloves.

There was genuine compassion there. No one likes to see a fellow fighter go down so heavy and see paramedics rush to the ring. We never think it will happen. We just want to get in, fight and go home to our families.

I don’t put pressure on myself to get through this fight, and the next fight is huge. It’s the way I live my life.

I have two little boys who I adore, and being a full-time boxer means I’m closer to them. That’s where the pressure comes in because I want to continue living that life.

What comes after will happen. Nothing is guaranteed. I just want to continue to be a full time fighter and the best dad to my kids.

The form and momentum are with me, but I’m back to being the loser, and that’s something I’m used to.

That’s how I approach things regardless of what people think, bookmakers believe.

We have confidence as a team in what we are doing, and that is the most important thing: raise your hand and listen to ‘and stay put’.

Galahad

I always put a lot of pressure on myself in every fight. I have the loser mentality; Every fight is do or die, and I got to do a job with Maxi Hughes. With this new weight, I feel fresher, I’m not struggling and I feel great.

With the defeat of Kiko Martínez, this is boxing. You can pass. I went straight back to the gym. Eddie told me to go on vacation and take a break. But I had to go to the gym, clear my head and think about how it went wrong. I know what I did wrong, we have adjusted it and we will see on Saturday night.

Maxi’s partner Josh was knocked out by Mauricio Lara, and came back to win a world title, so it depends on how you’re built.

If Maxi was knocked out like me, it would be over.

I’m a different sauce for him, and on Saturday, we’ll see.

They are not mind games. It’s the truth. I was knocked out by Kiko. He asked his trainer to take him out of a fight because his nose was bleeding.

That’s the truth. I’m not covering it with sugar. I prefer to go out with my shield. That is the difference in our mentalities.
