Benson Henderson: “I am not at all ready for the emotional impact of retiring, but I have three more fights”

DUBLIN – FightBook MMA has your Post-fight interview with Bendon Henderson after their fight at BELLATOR MMA 285: Henderson vs. queally. This event took place on Friday, September 23, 2022 at the 3Arena in beautiful Dublin, Ireland. You can watch the interview in the video above.

In the main event, Benson Henderson takes on Peter Queally for a lightweight showdown. The co-feature will see Yoel Romero take on Melvin Manhoef in a light heavyweight bout.

Benson Henderson Bellator 285 Post Fight Interview: “After five rounds against Peter Queally, I have to congratulate Peter Queally. It is a true testament to the Irish people. Man is of all kinds; a gentleman through and through. Congratulations to Peter and congratulations to the Dublin fans. You are Cray Cray, man. Great night, great energy, great vibe. The place was off the roof once again. It was amazing great atmosphere. The crowd was cheering at the end. I loved.”

“Peter did a great job, he did amazing. I don’t think he got anything super clean in the early rounds that would make me adapt, but he brought his A-game. He did a great job on defense. Great posture, great position; being able to defend a lot of my wrestling ”.

“That’s what I would like. I want the title fight next. I know that the next one is the Russian against the Brazilian. Crazy respect to Pitbull, I’m a big fan of Patricky. Patricky’s got the belt and he’s got a W on me. So I think it would be very appropriate for him to win his fight and for me to fight him and take the belt from him, especially since he has the advantage over me. But if Usman happens to win and it’s him instead … let’s make a title shot somewhere. Whoever wins, that’s what I want next. That’s why I said yes to Peter; he just fought for the belt.”

“I am not quite prepared for the emotional impact of retiring, but I have three more fights. So, I’ll worry about that first and take one fight at a time. That’s all I hope for. You can’t control a lot of things, but you can control how hard you work; being the hardest worker in the room. I’m going to go back to the gym on Monday, start to get better and start working for my next fight. At the end of those three fights, I will be an emotional wreck.”
