Cristiano Ronaldo news: Udinese goalkeeper Marco Silvestri has given the Portuguese superstar a transfer invitation to join the Italian team.

Reports said that Ronaldo had asked Man Utd to allow him to leave if they received a suitable offer. Ronaldo reportedly wanted to play in the Champions League, for which Man Utd failed to qualify after their sixth-place finish in the Premier League last season.

Despite reports that Ronaldo wants out, interest in the 37-year-old was scant. Several clubs linked to Ronaldo have distanced themselves from a move by the star striker. Ronaldo ultimately ended up staying at Man Utd, failing in his quest to seal a exit.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo has had a difficult start to the 22/23 season. The Portuguese international has appeared in all eight games Man Utd have played so far this season, but he made the starting eleven in just three of them.

Ronaldo, who had missed Man Utd’s pre-season tour of Thailand and Australia, was sent to the bench for the Red Devils’ 22/23 Premier League opener. Ten Hag decided to bench Ronaldo for that game against Brighton. Ronaldo came off the bench in the second half but was unable to help his team avoid a 2-1 loss.

Ronaldo returned to the starting eleven in the next Man Utd match, but the number 7 was unable to do much as he succumbed to a 4-0 loss to Brentford. Since then, Man Utd have played four Premier League games, and Ronaldo’s appearances in all of them were from the bench.

Ronaldo, however, has started both of Manchester United’s Europa League games this season. He also scored in the second of those games, converting a penalty as Man Utd defeated FC Sheriff 2-0.
