Matchmaker McComb – Cacace grateful to Public Nuisance for last shot at the big-time

antonio cacace [19(7)-1(0)] has encouraged Sean McComb to enter the matchup after revealing fellow Belfast talent is the real catalyst behind him securing one last shot at the big time.

Cacace fights against Michael Magnesi [21(13)-0] for the IBO super featherweight world title in Manchester on a busy Saturday night for Irish boxing.

It’s a fight that could propel the Belfast fighter, who was seriously considering retiring earlier this year, into some massive fights and some big paydays and an opportunity that Frank Warren’s famed hapless fighter is thrilled to have.

It’s also a fight that thanks ‘The Public Nuisance’ Sean McComb for inspiring it.

“The funny thing is that it was Sean McComb who originally put things between me and Magnesi. Sean saw that Magnesi had been talking about wanting to fight Joe Cordina and then stepped in and tweeted him about me,” Cacace told the Belfast Telegraph.

“It went back and forth and then I ended up getting a message from American promoter Lou di Bella about possibly facing him at Madison Square Garden.

“Of course it had to go through Frank and now he’s in Manchester. But maybe Sean should stick to matchmaking after he’s done boxing.”

If he manages to defeat the confident Italian on the Joyce-Parker heavyweight undercard, he shouldn’t need McComb’s services when it comes to securing his next fight.

A win would boost Cacace’s position in the world rankings and could give him a firmer footing on the road to the world title.

“This fight means everything to me. If I win this it can lead to mega fights and in my next fight I will have the opportunity to buy my own house. the [Joe] The Cordina fight would be exciting, but there are some very big names in the division. Everything can change after this. I am 33 years old, so there is no time to waste.”
