Crawford’s Trainer BoMac Tells Spence “Bud Is Ready”

By Sam Volz: Trainer Brian ‘BoMac’ McIntyre insists that Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford will be ready to face Errol Spence Jr on November 19 in their undisputed clash at 147.

The fight between Spence and Crawford has yet to be signed, but negotiations look good for the two welterweight champions to meet in less than two months in Las Vegas.

WBO champion Crawford (38-0, 29 KOs) will take a major step forward in his class against the opposition he has faced at welterweight. He hasn’t fought anyone close to Spence’s level since he was promoted in 2018, so it’s hard to tell how he’ll react.

BoMac doesn’t like people saying that Crawford hasn’t fought anyone, but that’s the reality of the situation. He hasn’t fought dangerous welterweights like Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis, Vergil Ortiz Jr or Yordenis Ugas.

“I think Spence is something special because of where he is in this game. But I know Bud and how much he wants to fight Spence,” trainer Brian ‘BoMac’ McIntyre told Fighthype.

“He wants to conquer the 147-pound division; he wants to be the undisputed king. It’s a tall order for a fighter who wants to do that against a fighter like Spence, but you better believe me, Bud is ready.

“I’m tired of people saying that Bud hasn’t fought anyone. Once he conquers and becomes the undisputed champion, all that shit is dead.

“Botas is phenomenal, a great fighter, a good guy. I’m sure that fight comes up across the board, and it all fits together nicely; that will be something we will see,” BoMac said of a fight against Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis.

“They fight the same,” BoMac said when asked who is Crawford’s toughest opponent between Spence and undisputed junior middleweight champion Jermell Charlo. “I would give it to Spence for what he has accomplished in the sport of boxing.

“He’s [Jermell] been hit before. Spence has not been defeated. First of all, we want victory. Let’s go in and get the victory. For the coming fashion, we will be ready for 12 rounds. If the knockout is there, we might as well take it.

“I want Bud to achieve everything he wants to achieve in boxing,” BoMac said.
