Cristiano Ronaldo intends to play in the 2024 European Championships – Man United News And Transfer News

Cristiano Ronaldo has expressed his desire to represent Portugal even at Euro 2024.

As reported in Sport Bible, the Portuguese feels he can still play for his country in Germany in two years’ time.

Ronaldo had previously hinted that he felt the upcoming World Cup in Qatar would be his last hurrah for his country.

“I hope that Qatar can be my last World Cup. I am happy because for sure it will be my last international tournament”, she had said before.

The superstar has now confirmed that he wishes to remain part of the playing team beyond the winter World Cup to help guide what he believes is a talented crop of youngsters coming through the ranks of the national team.

“My path in the national team is not over. We have a lot of quality youngsters. I will be in the World Cup and I want to be in the European Championship,” he said.

The striker played a key role as Portugal won Euro 2016, the country’s first and only major tournament success.

Three goals helped his side to the final, where, despite being forced to retire with an early injury, Ronaldo became the main cheerleader and tactician, shouting instructions from the bench alongside coach Fernando Santos.

Ronaldo will be 39 when Euro 2024 kicks off, but I wouldn’t miss him making a big impact on the tournament, given the incredible longevity of his career so far.

He is currently at the top of the all-time international scoring charts with a ridiculous 117 in 189 games. These 189 appearances also ensure that he is sitting comfortably at the top of the all-time appearances list for his national team.

Domestically, though, things aren’t going all that well for the Manchester United superstar, whose failure to engineer a move away this summer has predominantly left him warming the bench for Erik Ten Hag’s side.

Ronaldo will go to the World Cup as a United player, but it is highly unlikely that he will be plying his trade at Old Trafford by the time the next Euro comes around.
