Manchester United defender Raphael Varane has offered his support to fellow Frenchman and former club-mate Paul Pogba.
Varane, currently on international duty with Les Bleus, was asked about Pogba, who is now embroiled in a legal drama with his brother Mathias Pogba that has sent shock waves throughout the sporting world.
The four-time Champions League winner said at his press conference ahead of tomorrow’s Nations League match against Austria: “Obviously I’m not going to talk about the legal part.”
“Now, as a person, he is a friend. I support him and he faces challenges to overcome. Especially this injury.”
“He has to be in a good head to come back as soon as possible; We want to see it fulfilled.”
“He is an extraordinary player. We want him to see you come back as soon as possible and have fun.”
The 29-year-old also gave his verdict on his brilliant form with the club, pointing to pre-season as a factor that helped him a lot.
The former Real Madrid star reiterated his love for the Red Devils, saying that he came to Old Trafford to experience such emotions.
In last season, in which the Frenchman struggled to stay fit, he called his problems irregular and said they had overcome it.
Varane took time during his press conference to praise his teammates, presumably alluding to his four defenders, saying that he was enjoying fighting with them.
His participation in today’s pre-match press conference indicates that he will probably play for France tomorrow against Austria.
