Chelsea will be wise not to recall CHO, but it’s situation dependent – Talk Chelsea

The talk at Chelsea today is largely about whether or not they should call up winger Callum Hudson-Odoi in January, or let him stay on his season-long loan deal at Bayer Leverkusen.

We’re just three months into the winter transfer window now, and this is when Chelsea have a living clause in Hudson-Odoi’s loan deal with Bayer Leverkusen, meaning they can call him up in January if they want.

Some reports have been circulating today suggesting that Chelsea are considering doing this. Personally, my intuition is that we should not use this option and keep the winger on loan in the Bundesliga, mainly because he has had a good start there and is playing much more than at Chelsea. For his development he needs a good and complete season playing regular matches.

However, IF Blues boss Graham Potter says he wants Hudson-Odoi back and tells him he’ll get plenty of minutes with us at Chelsea again, so maybe my mind will change.

Also, if Chelsea end up allowing one or both Hakim Ziyech and Christian Pulisic to leave, then they should 100% remember Hudson-Odoi regardless. But it depends on the situation.

My initial feeling remains the same regardless of any of the above, which is that it would be wise to keep Hudson-Odoi at Leverkusen for the entire season for his sake and ours. We need him to come back a complete player and ready to play.
