Here’s what Joeshon James had to say about his recent training camp, his matchup with Brewart Jr. and more.

In his training camp:

“I moved my camp to Las Vegas for this fight and have been working with all the top fighters that are training there. I normally train in Sacramento, California, but for a fight of this caliber I invested in myself and am looking to make a statement. I don’t want to leave anything to chance. Therefore, I am fully invested in this fight and I will be ready for any version of Richard Brewart Jr. that comes along.”

On his confrontation with Richard Brewart Jr.:

“I’m not going to say I’m not impressed by his skills, but I felt like Nathan Weston beat him and probably could have stopped him in his fight. Brewart takes a lot of punches. I hit very hard. For him, seeing the final bell will be a great achievement. I just think he has too many flaws, and I worked too hard to get into this fight.”

On what a win will do for his career:

“Beating a well-known undefeated fighter in his hometown will do wonders for my career. I am an uncontracted fighter with a bunch of amateur fights, who has been fighting consistently in national tournaments at USA Boxing events for the last decade. A win here gives me a chance to give my young family a better life, a chance to sign with a promoter and improve our lives. This fight will change my life. I am fighting for everything this weekend.”

On the rivalry between Northern California and Southern California:

“Honestly, the rivalry between Northern California and Southern California is not what people make it out to be. We are just people. I think because the San Francisco Giants and Los Angeles Dodgers baseball teams are so popular and have such a well-known rivalry, people think it’s more important than it is. I will go to his hometown, but I will earn a lot of respect with the way I fight. People may boo at first, but by the end of the night, they will be my fans.”
