Eddie Howe was obsessed with Chelsea attack during summer transfer window

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano claims that Eddie Howe was obsessed with signing Christian Pulisic from Chelsea during the summer transfer window.

Newcastle were keen to add another attacker to compete with Allan Saint-Maximin but were unable to land USMNT star Christian Pulisic, who remained at Chelsea until at least January.

“Great interest from Newcastle. Newcastle was obsessed with Christian”, he told Que Golazo. “They wanted it. But they wanted him on loan and not permanently. They wanted him on loan, perhaps with a purchase option, not mandatory. And that’s why Chelsea decided to say no.” Roman finished.

The 24-year-old has yet to complete 90 minutes at Stamford Bridge this season, but he hopes a manager change will give him more playing time this season.

Newcastle could surely revisit interest in Pulisic in January if new manager Graham Potter continues to snub the player.
